Willow Sculptures, Hedgerow Crafts
& Willow Weaving Courses
Welcome to this website! Please take the time to look at the 'portfolio' page, which offers a selection of willow sculptures and living willow sculptures, made from Dorset hedgerow materials and willow and sometimes including willow from the near by Somerset Levels.
The 'workshops and events' page details forth coming courses and camps, to be held in a beautiful rural location on the Dorset/ Somerset border. From one day sculpture and basketry classes to longer, more in depth experiences, all of the workshops concentrate on using natural materials which are abundant in the locality and do not rely on the use of fossil fuels.
Kim Creswell first encountered the joy of working with willow 25 years ago when living in a willow 'bender tent' which took root and inspired her to create living willow sculptures which live and breathe and grow. Kim then went on to create many willow sculpture designs and became a fore-runner in the willow sculpture industry. Kim is the originator of many, now established, willow sculpture techniques and patterns, helping a diverse range of people to start their own environmentally sensitive enterprises. Kim's particular interest is with using natural materials which are abundant in a locality and has made authentic baskets to furnish reconstructed Neolithic dwellings, most notably for the English Heritage at Stonehenge and Sarum as well as for an Anglo-Saxon reconstruction at Poole . Kim first began teaching basketry, sculpture and other rural crafts in 1999 and has held many successful and enjoyable willow weaving workshops and demonstrations in venues as diverse as English Heritage and National Trust properties, wildlife centres, bushcraft courses, music and arts festivals, schools, corporate team building events and village halls, to name but a few. Kim's workshops are now mainly held at a low-impact, off grid small holding on the Dorset/ Somerset border in the South-west of England.
Please see the press page for more information.
